Drenkeling (2004) an interactive kinetic video
installation.
In Drenkeling, a monitor sits on a small wooden dock on the edge of a pool of water. A dress and pair of sandals lie unattended at its end. The monitor depicts a woman’s face under water. She is suspended both physically and in her own thoughts; resigned to her circumstance. The woman exhales periodically, air bubbles rising on screen as if towards a surface. As the bubbles disappear on screen, they burst on the surface of the pool of water and into reality.
