Conducted Prayers (2006) an interactive video installation .

In this piece, a call to prayer sweeps the city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A TV shows a man, seated and apparently waiting, whose face is not visible. When the nearest mosque sounds its call, he stands and begins to conduct.  The piece begs the question: Who is conducting who? Is man’s belief conducting “God,” or is God conducting man?
